ISLAMABAD FIFA on Thursday selected Syed Fasial Saleh Hayat, president of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), to adjudicate disciplinary cases as member of FIFA's Disciplinary Committee during the World Cup in South Africa.

PFF Secretary Col Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi told that  "it is for the first time in the country's football history that an office bearer of the PFF has been selected for the football World Cup assignment."

The PFF president had earlier performed the duty for the Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) Disciplinary Committee, too.

"Faisal is the only Pakistani official to hold the unique and unprecedented honour of visiting a World Cup event as one of FIFA World Cup Committee members," he said.

"It is a welcome gift for the national football body of Pakistan as PFF Chief, too, deserved the reward following his untiring efforts to promote soccer in Pakistan." he added.

Meanwhile, a press release issued by the PFF added that FIFA Chief Sepp Blatter while lauding the priceless contributions of Faisal Saleh Hayat for the promotion of football in Pakistan said that lately football is on an upward trend in Pakistan.

"Pakistan has come a long way in terms of level of competitiveness in the last six years and the PFF management deserves praise for making solid efforts for the promotion of football." Blatter said.
