UMERKOT, June 24 Two teenage brothers were electrocuted after they touched 11KV live cable lying on the ground near Pithoro on Wednesday.
Mehboob Ali, 16, and Rehmatullah, 13, sons of Kamal Junejo, were grazing cows near Rahim Shah village when they touched live electricity cable. As a result they were charred to death.
The father of the boys told journalists that 11KV electric poles were uprooted by heavy winds a week ago.
They informed Hyderabad Electric Supply Company officials who got the poles erected but left live cable on the ground which had caused the death of his sons, he said. Mr Junejo called upon the authorities to take action against responsible Hesco officials.
Later, residents of the village along with area councillors took out a rally to protest against the incident.
Our Mirpurkhas correspondent adds On the complaint of Mr Junejo, the Shadi Palli police have registered a case under section 319 of the PPC against Hesco line superintendent Abdul Rauf and lineman Ghulam Rasool.
