SWABI, Dec 6: People of Shahmansoor blocked Swabi-Jahangira road for traffic here on Thursday to protest against kidnapping of son of a local businessman.

Local people said that 11-year-old Mohammad Anees, son of Fayaz Khan of Shahmansoor village, was returning to his house after playing with other children nearby on Wednesday evening when unknown people came and threw him in a car.

Officials here said that apparently the child was kidnapped for ransom. However, family sources said that no one had so far contacted them in this regard.

A jirga was held in Shahmansoor, which demanded of the district police to recover the child as soon as possible and provide protection to people. The angry participants rushed to road and blocked it for about three hours.

Local activists of political parties have also demanded recovery of the child. Awami National Party district general secretary Tamraiz Khan, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf information secretary Shah Wali and other activists spoke to the protesting people.

The protesters said that they would again block the road on Friday. They said that they would not sit silent unless the police recovered the boy.

THREE KILLED: Three people, including two students, were killed in two separate road mishaps here on Thursday, police said.

They said that Amjid Ali and his nephew Hamid Ali were on their way to Government College of Commerce and Management Sciences at Bamkhel when the former lost control over his motorcycle in a roundabout and hit a roadside tree. Mr Amjid died on the spot, while Mr Ali succumbed to his injuries on way to district headquarters hospital.

In another incident, one Anwar Hayat was killed and his nephew, Mohammad Qazaffi, suffered serious injuries when their car collided with a roadside building at Baja bus stop. Both belonged to Baja village. Sources said that Mr Qazaffi had been shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar.
