QUETTA, Sept 14: President of the Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) Nawabzada Talal Akbar Bugti has urged members of the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances to meet all the stakeholders for getting information about missing persons.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he asked members of the UN delegation to visit as many areas of Balochistan as possible.

Senior vice-president of the party Sardar Niaz Muhammad Barach and other leaders were present on the occasion.

Nawabzada Bugti termed the country’s situation critical and said the visit of the UN team indicated that the decision makers must take steps to protect the integrity and sovereignty of the country.

He said there were reports that the visiting UN team would play the role of a ‘bridge’ between government and missing persons and submit its report in 2013.

The government, he added, would get some time for taking steps to improve the situation in the country.

“We will welcome if UN delegation meets JWP leaders and other people to get a clear picture about the Balochistan situation,” Nawabzada Talal Akbar Bugti said.

However, he said, that if UN officials go back without meeting stakeholders that would create a big question.

He strongly criticised the government and said that rulers were busy in loot and plunder and were not interested to resolve the problems being faced by the people.

He said that target killing had become order of the day and no one involved in these acts had been arrested.

“People are being killed and disappearing in the presence of agencies,” he claimed and added the country was moving towards civil war and international forces were having their eyes on Pakistan.—Staff Correspondent
