ISLAMABAD, Nov 5: With escalating US involvement in Pakistan over the last decade and the war against Islamic militants waged by Pakistan army, Americans have cultivated a new coalition of extremist forces made up of Al Qaeda, Taliban and tribal group.

In his new book, The Scorpion's Tail: The Relentless Rise of Islamic Militants in Pakistan, and How it Threatens America; Pakistani journalist Zahid Hussain chronicles how this increasingly powerful alliance of extremists has evolved as a direct result of US policies in this region. The book is being launched on November 13 at Kuch Khaas. The Scorpion's Tail is the second book by the award winning journalist and writer.

His book Frontline Pakistan: The Struggle with Militant Islam had won widespread acclaim as a seminal text on the subject. —Staff Reporter
