LAHORE, Dec 12: The Ring Road victims would get market rates of their lands consumed by the proposed road, said the Punjab communication and works minister on Sunday.

He claimed that no one would be allowed to suffer because of inefficiency or corruption of bureaucracy. All officers found guilty of such neglect would be dealt with severely. People should not be doubtful about payment because the government was committed to clear all dues on market rates, he said.

After the construction of the Ring Road, heavy traffic would not enter the city, saving it both from noise and air pollution, he said. The road would also have an emergency lane which would be monitored 24 hours a day.

It would also facilitate Sikh yatrees reaching quickly to Nankana Sahib and smoothen traffic between Lahore, Faisalabad and Karachi and take main load of heavy traffic of the city. The 60-kilometre road would have 14 interchanges and cost Rs19 billion.
