SIALKOT, June 16: Renowned political figure of this district and veteran parliamentarian Chaudhry Akhtar Ali Variyo died at Services Hospital in Lahore on Monday. He was 75.

The former MNA and former provincial minister was suffering from kidney and heart diseases besides diabetes.

He went into coma five days ago and was taken to the intensive care unit of the Services Hospital. Wife, four sons and a daughter survived him.

He was father of former provincial minister Chaudhry Khush Akhtar Subhani, elder brother of former federal minister Chaudhry Abdul Sattar Variyo and uncle of former provincial minister Chaudhry Armughan Subhani.

His body was taken to his native village Variyo near Sialkot where his funeral will be held on Tuesday (today) afternoon. — Correspondent
