Three killed in tribal gunfight

WANA (South Waziristan), Feb 18: Three people were killed and two others sustained bullet injuries when two groups clashed here in the on Sunday.

The gunfight broke out at the Murghi Band area here when the groups encountered. Three people from both groups died on the spot, while two received bullet injuries. The deceased were identified as Gulzada, Dilawar and Rahim Khan.

One of the injured was in a serious condition.

REFORMS OPPOSED:A tribal jirga of Mahsud tribe, South Waziristan Agency, has opposed the proposed holding of local bodies elections in the tribal agencies and introduction of reforms there.

The jirga, held here on Sunday, constituted a delegation which will hold meetings with the representatives of other tribal agencies to evolve a strategy to block the proposed reforms in the tribal territory. The delegation left the same day for Peshawar.

The delegation will mobilize the tribesmen against the proposed changes like the activation of the tribal security force, Khasadars, for maintaining law and order in the agencies and holding of local bodies elections.
