ISLAMABAD: PTI leaders were once again denied permission to meet the imprisoned former prime minister Imran Khan at Adiala jail on Thursday, despite a court order permitting the visits.
PTI lawyer Awais Younas Chaudhry said that he had provided a list of six party leaders to the Adiala jail administration on Wednesday in an effort to obtain permission for the meeting.
The list included Haji Amanullah Awan, Muhammad Shahid Ali Chohan, Syed Hamid Ihsan, Sajjad Ali Butt, Noman Mughal and Aqsa Hayyat Lali.
“All leaders and other workers reached Adiala jail at 2pm. and informed chowki incharge Imran,” Chaudhry said. “They were told to wait for the approval. Leaders waited till 4pm only to hear that the meeting cannot be allowed.”
Chaudhry criticised the jail administration, alleging that Islamabad High Court orders regarding meetings with Mr Khan have not been implemented for the past seven months. “A larger bench ... had directed that Imran Khan be allowed meetings twice a week, including with six family members, six lawyers and six party colleagues on Tuesdays and Thursdays,” he said.
