CHINIOT: Police have finally registered a case against a traffic warden, around two months after he was allegedly found guilty of power theft at his house in Nai Abadi, Mohallah Kamangran.

The city police have booked traffic warden Yasin Gloter, under section 462-I of the Pakistan Penal code on charges of stealing electricity at his residence.

Faisalabad Electricity Supply Company (Fesco) sub divisional officer (SDO) of 1st Sub division, Chiniot, had sent a letter to the city police SHO on May 22, 2026, stating that a Fesco divisional surveillance team, headed by Line Superintendent Rana Kashif raided a house in Mohallah Kamangran and detected power theft from main line on meter no 19-13161-3426400, installed in the name of one Ahmad Din.

The SDO said that on inquiry, it was revealed that the electricity meter was in the use of traffic warden Yasin, who was found guilty of electricity theft. He had asked the SHO to register a case against Yasin as per the law.

However, no case was registered against the warden despite passage of over one-and-a-half months.

On the other hand, the traffic warden in a video statement appearing on social media alleged that he was being “victimised” for issuing challans to Fesco staffers who commit violations.

He also alleged that some Fesco officials have been pressurising him for withdrawing the traffic challans issued to them, but he refused.

He added that he had issued challans to 57 Fesco officials, including some of the members of the raiding team, which claimed to have detected power theft at his house and issued over Rs100,000 detection bill “without any justification.”

He said he had approached Fesco executive engineer (EXEN) concerned with a complaint, who asked him to submit an affidavit seeking waiver of some units in the detection bill.

A spokesperson for district police claimed that the registration of case against traffic warden Yaseen had been delayed due to “investigations process.” He said that no departmental action has yet been taken against the warden, who is performing his duties as usual.

He added that if the warden was found guilty in investigations, action would be taken against him under Police Order 2002.

On the other hand, Fesco EXEN Malik Zeeshan denied that traffic warden was victimised for performing his duty, saying the divisional surveillance teams takes action against electricity thieves without any prejudice.
