DADU: Three persons, including a woman, were reported to have died of heat-wave in Kashmore and Ranipur Jacobabad district and Khairpur the other day. Today’s [July 10] reports said mercury shot up in the Upper Sind districts of Dadu, Nawabshah, Sukkur, Larkana and Jacobabad raising the day’s temperature from 42 degrees centigrade to 45 degrees. These districts are reported to have been in the grip of severe heat wave for the last one week.
[Meanwhile, as per news agencies,] the visiting seven-member Indian Airlines delegation yesterday [July 11] held second round of talks with the PIA officials to finalise arrangements for the resumption of air service between India and Pakistan. The talks were held in the PIA head office buildings, which were followed by group meetings in the afternoon. The leader of the Indian delegation, Mr G.D. Mathur, said after the meeting that the talks were held in a “most friendly and cordial atmosphere”. He said the discussions were interesting and both sides had smooth sailing during the talks. Replying to a question about signing a formal agreement, Mr Mathur said various details were being worked out on a number of points of common interest.
