LAHORE: Post-Graduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Dr Mohammad Farooq Afzal has stated that given the continuous rise in cancer cases among women, the establishment of a dedicated breast and gynaecology institute has become an inevitable necessity.

Addressing the concluding session of the “Gynaecon 2026” organised by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Lahore General Hospital (LGH), he highlighted that such an institution would serve as a hub for research, advanced diagnostics, effective treatment and professional training.

Prof Afzal stressed that the most effective weapon against cancer is timely diagnosis, therefore, it is essential to promote public awareness regarding early symptoms and preventive measures.

He remarked that the fusion of modern research and technology has enabled revolutionary progress in the medical field.
