LOWER DIR: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief Senator Maulana Attaur Rehman on Friday lashed out at the provincial government, accusing it of plunging the province into mismanagement, insecurity and stagnation over its 13-year rule.

Addressing a press conference at the District Press Club Timergara, he said development projects remained confined to files, while the people had been deprived of even basic civic facilities.

The JUI-F provincial deputy chief Maulana Abdul Haseeb Haqqani, deputy general secretary Maulana Mohammad Rahim Haqqani, provincial election organiser Maulana Ahmad Ali Darvish and other party leaders were also present.

Responding to a question, Mr Rehman held Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf responsible for hurdles in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, saying its flawed policies had not only hampered national development but also damaged ties with brotherly Muslim countries.

He said it was unfortunate that people voted for PTI, PML-N and PPP, but when it came to taking to the streets and raising voice for public rights, expectations were pinned on JUI-F.

He termed the holding of the provincial assembly session at Arbab Niaz Stadium a “drama,” saying if it was acceptable to convene the assembly outside its designated building, then the purpose of the assembly building itself becomes questionable.

The JUI-F leader announced that his party would soon launch a nationwide campaign against inflation, insecurity and lawlessness.

He said the claims of “change” made over the last 13 years had proved hollow slogans, as dozens of major projects either remained incomplete or failed altogether, exposing the government’s incompetence.

Mr Rehman said the education sector in the province was on the verge of collapse, with millions of children still out of school, which, he said, was a serious indictment of the government’s performance.

Demanding immediate resignation of the provincial government, Mr Rehman said it should step down after admitting its repeated failures.
