SAHIWAL: A man was critically injured when armed assailants riding two motorcycles stormed his medical store and opened indiscriminate fire in village 149/EB in Arifwala tehsil on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers fired multiple shots inside and outside the store.
Report said the victim, Sageer Ahmed, a resident of 149/EB, runs the medical store in the same village.
Locals claimed that a year ago a scuffle happened at the same store with the assailants over a fight between children.
He allegedly had an ongoing dispute with Muzamil and Munib, residents of the same village against whom he had successfully registered a criminal case.
Infuriated by this, the accused allegedly arrived at his shop and opened fire. Sageer sustained multiple bullet wounds in both legs, arms, and the lower part of his body.
He was rushed to Arifwala THQ hospital, where his condition was reported to be critical.
On the complaint of his wife, Naheed Qari, the Saddar police registered a case against five nominated suspects, including Munib, Shazal, Asif, and Sufyan, all residents of the same village.
Police were yet to arrest any of the nominated suspects.
