QUETTA: A suicide bomber and four other Indian-sponsored Fitna al Khwarij were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by security forces in the Pishin district of Balochistan, military sources said.

Fitna al Khawarij is a term that the state has designated for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

According to a spokesperson for Balochistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department, the terrorists had “planned to attack the police lines and Cadet College Pishin”.

During the security operation, troops effectively engaged the entire formation of terrorists with multiple weapons, according to a news release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). After an intense fire exchange, the ISPR said, the suicide bomber blew himself up and four other Khwarij were hunted down and eliminated.

Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from them, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area.

The military’s media wing stated that sanitisation operations were being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored terrorist found in the area.

Security forces along with law enforcement agencies would continue the counter-terrorism campaign at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country under the Azm-i-Istehkam vision, as approved by the apex committee on National Action Plan, the ISPR added.

In an earlier statement, the spokesperson for Balochistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) had confirmed to the media the security operation in Pishin and the losses suffered by the terrorists. He said the terrorists had come prepared to attack police lines area and the cadet college.
