ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa has directed the completion of all mega projects before the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit and international conferences in Islamabad.

He was chairing a meeting, which was also attended by Member Administration Talat Mahmood, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Planning and Design Dr Khalid Hafiz, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch along with other relevant officers.

According to a statement, a briefing was given during the meeting on the mega development projects to be launched for better arrangements regarding the upcoming SCO summit.

The meeting was told that the preparation of the request for proposal (RFP) for various projects was in its final stages.

For the first phase of these projects, the services of internationally and nationally renowned consultants will be acquired. Work was ongoing on the preparation of PC-1 and PC-2 as well as the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of these projects.

Mr Randhawa said mega projects were being launched to make Islamabad a world-class modern city.

He said the completion of the projects must be ensured before the holding of the SCO summit.

He also directed that a completely open and transparent competitive process must be ensured in all project procedures.

There should be no compromise on the standards of quality in the completion of the projects.

He directed that the processes for PC-1 and tendering for all mega projects be further expedited so that their formal commencement can be possible next year.

The chairman said the completion of the projects will make Islamabad a hub for international and national events, tourism and diplomatic activities.
