NAWABSHAH: First Lady Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari visited Institute of Mother and Child Health, Benazir Institute of Urology and Transplantation and Girls Degree College here on Friday.
Accompanied by her aunt, Sindh Minister for Health Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, she reviewed different sections of the institute and was briefed that the facility provided vital healthcare services, catering to 970 children through pediatric OPD, 440 women through gynecology OPD, and 25 patients through pediatric surgery OPD daily.
During her visit, Ms Bhutto-Zardari inspected the hospital’s modern units and medical facilities, emphasising the need for further improvement in healthcare services.
She also visited the Benazir Institute of Urology and Transplantation and later Girls Degree College, where she inaugurated a computer lab.
Health minister inaugurates vaccination drive Sindh Minister for Health and Population Welfare Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho inaugurated national vaccination campaign for the prevention of cervical cancer at Darbar Hall on Friday.
The campaign was formally commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony after which the minister distributed 50 motorcycles among vaccinators and handed over a mobile van to district health officer (DHO) for field vaccination under the National Health Support Program.
She said the health department was taking all possible measures to provide quality medical facilities to public. The day marked the launch of cervical cancer prevention campaign, and the provision of motorcycles and van to the vaccinators of Shaheed Benazirabad district aimed to ensure success of the national vaccination campaign starting from Sept 15, she said.
She appealed to parents to fully cooperate with district administration and the health department during the campaign and ensure that their daughters were administered the vaccine.
DHO Dr Asadullah Dahri said that the national cervical cancer prevention vaccination campaign would be conducted in Shaheed Benazirabad district from Sept 15 to 29 to vaccinate 166,000 girls aged nine to 14 years.
