KOHAT: Storekeepers of Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) in Orakzai district have been suspended for keeping medicines in open air.
A departmental action has also been ordered against 13 absent staff members in the district health office.
The action was taken by the Kohat division commissioner during surprise visits to the Orakzai and Hangu districts to inspect administrative affairs and service delivery at various government offices and health facilities the other day.
The commissioner visited the basic health unit, Ibrahimzai, in Hang. He appreciated the staff for ensuring availability of medicines.
He interacted with the patients, mostly women and children, who are suffering from respiratory, gastric, and seasonal skin ailments.
The commissioner directed the district health officer to immediately form teams to visit the affected villages, and establish free health camps within three days.
He also called for launching an effective awareness campaign to help prevent outbreak of these diseases.
The commissioner reaffirmed that no negligence would be tolerated in resolving public issues and ensuring basic facilities to people.
