NAROWAL: A woman was seriously injured after the roof of a house collapsed following a gas cylinder explosion in Sheikhupura on Thursday.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson said they received a phone call about the incident from Akbar Town, Joyianwala village. He said a rescue team reached the scene and found a woman buried under the rubble of the house.
He said the team, with the help of locals, pulled injured Zahida Bibi (45) out of the rubble. She suffered serious burn injuries in the fire and was provided first aid. She was later shifted to the Sheikhupura DHQ Hospital for treatment.
According to the spokesperson, the woman forgot to turn off the gas cylinder at night and it exploded when she lit a fire in the morning.
ROBBED: Robbers held a family hostage in Sialkot and looted cash and gold worth Rs4.7 million.
In his complaint, Irfanul Haq, a resident of village Dhale Wali Head Marala, Sialkot, told the police that three robbers entered his house on Wednesday night at 9:30pm. He said the robbers took the family hostage at gunpoint and conducted a comprehensive search of the house.
He said the robbers took away Rs200,000 in cash and 30-tola gold jewellery worth Rs4.5 million.
Head Marala police registered an FIR against unknown accused under Section 392 of the PPC.
The police investigation team has started conducting raids to arrest the accused.
