SUKKUR: Two passengers and the driver of a coach were killed when it overturned at a section of the National Highway near Gambat town of Khairpur district on Sunday. At least 35 other passengers were injured in the accident.

The Sibi-bound coach coming from Karachi met with the accident at a place falling within the limits of the Tando Masti police station.

Al the victims, including women and children, were transported to the Gambat Institute of Medical Science (GIMS) Hospital.

Two of the deceased were identified as Abid Ali (coach driver) and Reema Gul, wife of Haroon Ahmed, while a third man was yet to be identified.

Three labourers die

In another accident, two laborers and a tyre shop worker were killed when a speeding container-mounted trailer hit a parked tractor-driven trolley at Nizamani stop along the National Highway near Khairpur on Saturday evening.

It was stated that the labourers, Qamaruddin Majeedano and Talib Hussain were watching change of a punctured tyre of the trolley by Muharram Majeedano when they were run over by the long vehicle. Another labourer accompany them,

Naimatullah Kalhoro, also sustained critical injuries in the accident.

All the victims were shifted to the Khairpur Civil Hospital.

The police arrested the trailer driver and impounded his vehicle.

Sheep herd perishes on road

Thirty-five sheep perished and many others were injured when a passenger coach ran over the herd at Afzal Chowk near Gambat city along National Highway in Khairpur district.

The herdsman, Mohammad Khan Bugti, fainted upon watching the scene. He was provided emergency medical treatment.

Two sisters drown

Two sisters, Ayesha and Badshah, daughters of Mohammed Musa Pahore, drowned while bathing in an irrigation channel along the Noor Ahmed Kalhoro village of Shikarpur district on Saturday.
