GUJRAT: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Gujranwala Circle arrested an agent working outside the Nadra office for involvement in tampering with birth and family registration certificates.

An FIA spokesman said Athar Butt of Narowal was booked on the complaint of assistant director of Nadra office in Zafarwal. The suspect was involved in tampering with birth certificates, family trees and identity records with the connivance of some Nadra officials. FIA SHO Rana Asif Nadeem led the team to arrest Butt from Gujrat.

Meanwhile, the FIA claimed to have arrested two human traffickers in the crackdown on illegal human traffickers.

FIA Gujrat circle arrested Rauf Masih, a resident of Baddo Malhi, district Narowal, for taking Rs300,000 from the complainant for sending his son to the UAE. He neither sent the complainant’s son to the UAE nor did return the amount.

In another case, the FIA arrested Zaman Akram, a resident of Gujranwala, for extorting Rs9m from an immigrant in connivance with his brother and sister-in-law on the pretext of sending him and his brother to Canada.
