NAROWAL: Sheikhupura police have arrested three suspects, including the deceased’s cousin, for murdering a young man and severing his thumb to withdraw Rs1 million from an ATM.

Nusrat Bano of Faisalabad lodged a complaint that her son Muhammad Yasin went out with his cousin, Areeb Kamran, and friends in his car on Tuesday but did not return.

The family launched a frantic search and found Yasin’s body in the trunk of a car in Hashim Town, Sheikhupura.

Housing Colony police registered a case under sections 302, 148, and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code against Areeb Kamran, Osama Munir Haris, and two unidentified suspects.

According to the police, the suspects were attempting to throw Yasin’s body in a canal when they were arrested.

The investigation revealed that the suspects had severed Yasin’s thumb and used it to withdraw Rs1m from his bank account via an ATM.

Nusrat Bano said that Areeb had borrowed Rs200,000 from her son a few months ago but failed to return it, despite repeated requests. Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
