BAHAWALPUR: Fifteen police officials of Lodhran district have been dismissed from service over refusal to discharge their duties in Islamabad.

Dawn learnt that during the last one week, a number of police officials, including constables of Lodhran district, were ordered by the authorities concerned to proceed to Islamabad to perform duties there. But, according to information, many of them refused to go to the federal capital. This prompted the authorities to take action against them to teach them a lesson.

It is learnt that 15 of them have been dismissed from service and action against another 20 police personnel is under process.

Lodhran police spokesman Khan Bahadur confirmed to Dawn that 15 policemen had been dismissed from service for refusal to go to Islamabad. However, he denied that action against 20 more police officials was under process, claiming that there were only 15 officials against whom action was taken by high-ups. Names of the sacked officials could not be confirmed.

Under the law, the dismissed policemen can file review petitions with the authorities.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit is scheduled to happen in Islamabad on Oct 15 and 16 while the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has also given a protest call for the federal capital on the opening day of the summit.

INCUBATION: A business incubation centre (BIC) under the auspices of the Institute of Business Administration has been established at the Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CUVAS).
