MANSEHRA: The district bar association on Friday announced the boycott of court proceedings on Saturday (today) in protest against the killing of a senior lawyer in Sherpur area here.

Iftikhar Khan Advocate, a member of the district bar association, was killed and four other people sustained critical injuries when rival groups exchanged fire on a piece of land.

The injured were shifted to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, wherefrom they were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital, Abbottabad, in critical condition.

The members of the legal fraternity, MPA Munir Hussain Lughmani and Shahjehan Khan Swati, a former president of the district bar association, rushed to the hospital, to console the family members of the deceased lawyer.

Hafiz Naseem Khan Advocate, president of the district bar association, who also rushed to the health facility, announced a boycott of the court proceedings on Saturday (today) against the killing of Mr Iftikhar, also a former vice-president of the association, according to a press release.

“The legal fraternity wants an immediate arrest of those involved in the murder of senior lawyer,” the press release quoted him as saying.
