PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur inaugurated model design and online application system for solarisation scheme.
According to an official statement issued here on Thursday, he directed officials concerned to prioritise solarisation efforts, aimed at easing the energy challenges in low-income and remote areas as well as in the localities with high electricity feeder losses and hot weather conditions.
The chief minister also announced an expansion of the scheme to 130,000 households, with 30,000 exclusively from merged districts. The ambitious project would provide a complete 2KV solar system to underprivileged households across the province, significantly enhancing energy access for those in need, said the statement.
A meeting was held here to review technical and financial modalities of the scheme. Technical experts briefed the participants of the meeting on specifications of solar machinery, its estimated cost and the methods of installation.
The solarisation scheme is part of the provincial government’s broader efforts to address energy needs in the communities where access to electricity remains a challenge, particularly in backward and remote areas.
By prioritising the most vulnerable population, the scheme is meant to reduce energy burden on families, enhance their living standards and promote use of clean energy solutions.
During the meeting, Mr Gandapur highlighted the importance of the initiative in addressing energy problems in far-flung rural areas. He said that the project would help to improve the quality of life of poor.
He stressed the need for launching a separate solarisation scheme for merged districts of the province where power outages were a significant issue.
