SARGODHA: The special judge of anti-corruption Sargodha granted seven-day physical remand of former PTI MNA Amjad Khan Niazi to Mianwali Police in two cases registered against him in the wake of mob violence on May 9 and 10.

Police demanded 30 days remand but the judge granted police seven days remand for investigation and ordered them to produce the former MNA before the court on Nov 28.

It may be recalled that Niazi had surrendered himself before the Anti-Terrorism Court yesterday and the judge handed him over to police who produced him in the court for physical remand.

He had issued a video message also, saying that he and his family were not involved in any incident of terrorism or corruption and that he was ready to face the firing squad if impartial inquiry proved the charges leveled against him or his family.

He further said he had condemned the May 9 incidents and always supported the state institutions. He said he decided to face the charges in the court of law and was confident about justice as all the charges levelled against him were frivolous.

RAPE CASE: The 15-year-old boy who was accused of raping a three-year-old girl was sent in custody of Urban Area police on a four-day physical remand by the judicial magistrate.

The victim was medically examined by the doctors after the incident and the samples were sent for chemical analysis.

It may be recalled here the girl of Tiwana Park was raped the teenage boy who escaped from the scene when the victim’s uncle saw him.

Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi reached the hospital on Monday night and assured the victim’s family of justice.

On his instructions, Commissioner Sargodha Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti met the mother and other heirs of the innocent girl at Government Dr Faisal Masood Teaching Hospital and handed over a cheque of Rs1m to the mother of the victim on behalf of the CM.

The commissioner was informed by the MS about the condition of the girl and the medical facilities being provided to her.
