LARKANA: A man, who jumped into Rice Canal to save his drowning son near Kehar village, 10 kilometres from here on Monday, was feared to have died himself along with his son as their bodies remained untraced despite several hours of search.

Sahil Shaikh,17, and his brother Suhail Shaikh,7, were carried away by strong currents while bathing in the canal. Villagers managed to rescue Suhail and were readying to go after his brother when their father Mujahid could not hold himself and dived into the canal.

Police officials said that no trace had been found yet of the father and the son. Most probably both had drowned to death, they.

Doctors carried out post mortem on the body and handed it back to Edhi volunteers for burial as the body was unidentified and unclaimed. “We are investigating and would soon unearth the truth,” said police.
