DADU: Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that wheat flour is in big demand across the province and efforts are being made to meet it. He claimed that flour rate had gone high due to a shortage following floods but the price had now been brought under control.
Speaking to the media during his visit to Bhan Syedabad on Sunday, the CM said stalls had been set up to ensure supply of wheat flour to end consumers at Rs65 a kilo.
“Strict directives have been issued to all deputy commissioners to take action against profiteers wherever they are found charging a higher rate from consumers,” he said while replying to a question.
He said 350,000 10-kg bags of flour were provided to the stalls daily to overcome the shortage and control the price.
In reply to another question, Mr Shah held out the assurance that the second phase of local government elections in Sindh would be held as scheduled for January 15.
