DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A prisoner escaped from the police custody while being taken to court here on Monday.

Sources said prisoners attacked the policemen just when they embarked from the prison van after being brought from the Dera central jail to local courts, and attempted to flee.

They said most of the prisoners were arrested while fleeing, but two of them, Noman and Abdur Rehman, managed to escape, also taking a Kalashnikov of a policeman with them.

Later, the police rearrested Noman near the new vegetable market along with the Kalashnikov.
