LOWER DIR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf activists from Samarbagh on Monday demanded of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan to take notice of the closure of Jandol Model School and College since 2016.
Talking to reporters, the PTI workers led by Ali Shah Mishwani said the institution was established with the name of Bacha Khan Model School during the Awami National Party government.
“However, its name was changed during the coalition government of PTI and JI in 2013,” Ali Mishwani said, adding it was the only semi-government school and college in Jandol.
He said school’s building, vehicles and other assets were decaying. He said he would meet the provincial education minister to reopen the institute.
Separately, disgruntled leaders and workers of PTI, Maidan chapter, on Monday announced to field their own candidates in the next general elections in case the party tickets were not awarded on merit to ideological workers.
They made the announcement during an Eid Milan party held in Markhanai area.
PTI founder member in the area Mubarak Jan, Malik Abdullah Shah, Naushad Khan, Bakht Bacha, Dr Saleem Khan, Ali Akbar and others spoke on the occasion.
They announced to lead a big procession to attend the proposed Islamabad rally to be held on the call of Imran Khan.
On the occasion, Mubarak Jan alleged that the party had been hijacked by opportunists, who had damaged it badly.
He urged Imran Khan to clean the party of opportunists and accommodate the ideological workers.
The other speakers alleged the party leadership had ignored the genuine workers and awarded tickets to opportunists in 2018 general elections and local body polls in 2022.
Several political workers from Jamaat-i-Islami and Pakistan Peoples Party joined the PTI on the occasion.
TEACHERS SEEK SALARIES: The teachers of basic education community schools on Monday complained they had not been paid salary for last 10 months.
Talking to journalists in Timergara, a group of teachers claimed Rs1 billion had already been released, but the elementary and secondary education department was yet to pay them.
They threatened to stage a protest sit-in outside the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar if their salaries were not released within 15 days.
