KOHAT: Office-bearers of Paramedics Association, Kohat, through unanimous resolutions have asked the government and relevant authorities to take notice of the anomalies in appointment of staff against the job description and rules at the KDA Teaching Hospital.

They appealed to the provincial secretary health, MNA Shehryar Afridi, deputy commissioner, Kohat, and medical superintendent of the KDA Teaching Hospital to remove all the ‘illegally’ appointed staff from their present posts.

The association’s secretary general Hassan Shah presented agenda of the meeting, which was chaired by its president Rashid Bokhari on Thursday.

They expressed concern over the transfer of five anaesthesia staff members to the duty of issuing oxygen cylinder filling slips and counters taking blood samples by the hospital administration.

Mr Bokhari said the administration was taking double duty from some paramedics while appointing others as supervisors who did not perform any duty.

He said private candidates had been hired for looking after the patients in violation of the laws of intermediate medical care unit.

It was regretted that one paramedic had been appointed for the morning and evening shifts at the operation theatre and it was not possible for him to remain present round the clock.

Mr Bokhari said they would adopt future line of action on January 16.
