KARACHI: A suspected robber was lynched by an angry mob in the Al-Falah area on Sunday, police said.

Korangi SSP Shah Jahan said that three suspects riding two motorbikes arrived at a shop, but the security guard, Abu Bakar, 30, posted there put up resistance. The robbers fired at him, but area people gathered there and got hold on two of the suspects, he said.

The SSP said the people subjected the suspects to severe beating before the arrival of the police.

One of the suspects, whose identity could not be ascertained till late in the night, was beaten to death while another was arrested in an injured condition.

The body and injured were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

Meanwhile, a young man was stabbed to death in Malir City on Sunday.

Police said the body of the man in his mid-30s with stab wounds was recovered from a ground near Government Secondary School, Urdu Nagar in Malir.

The victim appeared to be a drug addict. The body was shifted to the JPMC to fulfil medico-legal formalities.
