TAXILA: Five of a family were killed while nine others injured in aroad accident on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) nearGhazi interchange in the limits of Hazro police station on Saturday.

According to hospital sources, a man, his wife and three children are among the injured.

National Highway and Motorway Police and Rescue 1122 sources said the family was travelling from Rawalpindi to Ghazi in a Suzuki pickup to attend a funeral ceremony.

When they reached near Ghazi interchange on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway, a speeding vehicle rammed into the pickup.

The dead were identified as Shama, Samia, Haleema, Shumaila and Wakeel Rustam.

Soon after the accident, Rescue 1122 and National Highway and Motorway Police shifted the injured and dead to Hazro Tehsil Headquarters Hospital from where the injured were shifted to Rawalpindi.

Hazro police have registered a case and started investigation.
