LAHORE: The Civil Services Academy (CSA) on Wednesday launched its museum showcasing the academy’s 47-year history in print as well as in digital form – a journey from the beginning to the present day.
Establishment Division secretary Dr Ijaz Munir and former CSA director-general Dr Sajid Yoosufani jointly inaugurated the history museum. The faculty of CSA, members of Sheikhupura Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives of Citizens Archive of Pakistan and National History Museum and representatives of CSA alumni were present at the inauguration ceremony.
CSA’s Central Training Programme (CTP) director Zulfiqar Younas conceptualised the project that was designed and established in collaboration with team of The Citizens Archive of Pakistan (CAP) led by Oscar winner Ms Sharmin Obaid Chinoy and the Sheikhupura chamber. A team of officers of the academy executed the project.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Mr Younas said the project has been funded as CSR project by the chamber and CSA alumni provided the documents. He said the museum’s launch was a humble beginning and hoped its further expansion to introduce more achievements of successful alumni of CSA as well as new initiatives taking place in the years to come. “The CSA museum will not only capture the history of the academy but also encapsulate the history of civil services in Pakistan to be named as “Pakistan Civil Services History Museum”.
CSA director-general Omer Rasul lauded the efforts of the entire team and said the inauguration marks the start of preserving a rich history of the academy that would further be enhanced in future.
Chamber president Adil Mehmood assured commitment from the business and industry in general and the chamber in particular for the benefit of Pakistan.
CSA Alumni Association (Lahore Chapter) representative Javed Nisar Syed appreciated efforts of the academy in enhancing the overall quality of training and establishing the history museum.
Former CSA DG Dr Sajid Yoosufani said he was happy to see the launch of the history museum that he had initiated during his tenure.
Establishment Division secretary Dr Ijaz Munir acknowledged the dire need to capture the history of CSA and appreciated the efforts of Mr Younas for showing commitment and vision to undertake the project and successfully completing it.
