PESHAWAR: Security forces killed another terrorist during an area ‘sanitisation operation’ in Dewagar area of North Waziristan tribal district on Sunday.

The security forces had also killed a member of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in Boya area of the tribal district on Saturday.

In a statement issued here, the army’s Inter Services Public Relations said during an intense exchange of fire a terrorist identified as Zahiduddin, a resident of Dewagar, was killed.

The statement said the killed terrorist was an active member of TTP in Dewagar and Kharseen areas.

He remained actively involved in targeted killings, attacks on the security forces, extortion and planting IEDs.

Meanwhile, local people organised a protest demonstration in front of the press club in Miramshah against alleged manhandling by the security forces at Ghulam Khan border crossing point, our correspondent in North Waziristan adds.

A tribal elder, Malik Noor Shah Gul, told the media on the occasion that the forces’ personnel allegedly subjected the people to mistreatment. He said locals clashed with the security personnel, which caused injuries to three civilians and two soldiers.

However, senior officials denied the security forces were involved in maltreatment of civilians.

Sources said two wounded personnel, Naib Subedar Khadim and Naik Shahbaz, were shifted to the military hospital in Bannu.
