KARAK: The students of Government Degree College, Banda Daud Shah, here have demanded provision of transport facility, drinking water and sufficient teaching staff.
These demands came in a meeting of the students chaired by their fellow Azam Khan on the college premises on Thursday.
On this occasion, the students’ leaders said that the college had been established 16 years ago, but it was still deprived of basic facilities. They said that the shortage of staff in the college had been resulting in wastage of precious time of the students.
They said that the students who could not afford taking admission in private colleges were studying here. They demanded of the government fill all vacant posts in the degree college on priority.
They said that drinking water should be supplied to the college as soon as possible. They said the students of Banda Daud Shah tehsil were mostly from remote areas and they faced hardships while commuting in private vehicles.
The speakers also complained that the owners of private vehicles charged high fares from the students, which was not affordable for them on daily basis. They also said that power outages had been affecting their studies.
They demanded of the government to resolve the electricity and other problems being faced by students of the college.
They said that the poor students of the district could not afford paying the admission fee and other expenditure of the college and urged the government to give a fixed share from the royalty funds to the educational institutions of the district to resolve their and the students’ problems.
They warned that the students should not be forced to take to streets for resolution of their problems.
