KARACHI: Local Government, Housing and Town Planning Secretary Najam Ahmad Shah on Monday directed the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board to effectively ensure water supply to all residential and industrial areas in the city.

“No compromise can be made on the water needs of the city,” he said while presiding over a meeting held at his office.

The meeting was attended among other by the managing director of the KWSB and project directors of K-IV and KWSSIP.

The LG secretary said that the water needs of Karachi were increasing day by day, adding that like every major city in the world, the needs and problems of Karachi were also of extraordinary nature.

He asked the water utility officials to take effective measures to prevent water theft in the city.

“Bold steps should be taken ... and the mafia involved in this heinous business should be brought to book,” he added.

The LG secretary stressed on speeding up the ongoing projects with international funding.
