FAISALABAD: Two policemen have been booked on charges of negligence in handling the case of torture on a minor domestic help.

Investigation Officer Zeeshan had produced an arrested suspect, Rana Munir, before a court in a private vehicle.

The officer also did not get the medical examination of the minor conducted who was subjected to torture by Munir’s family on Dec 3 and its video had gone viral on social media on Dec 5.

A case had been registered against Munir and his wife on Dec 5 on the complaint of Child Protection and Welfare Bureau officer Samina Nadar and the two subsequently arrested.

Munir managed to secure bail a day later, while his wife was sent on judicial remand for 14 days by judicial magistrate Muhammad Nasrullah. However, she also obtained bail after two days.

Munir’s daughter and her husband had already secured pre-arrest bails in the same case.

Madina Town Station House Officer Aftab Iqbal was also booked over negligence and not ensuring due process was followed. Both Iqbal and Zeeshan were booked under Section 155-C of the Police Order with no arrests yet.
