MANSEHRA: A couple was killed when a car rammed into the fencing of the Hazara Motorway, and a teenage girl drowned in Kunhar River while taking a selfie here on Sunday.

The police said the car carrying a family was on its way to Baffa area of Mansehra from Peshawar. However, it went out of the driver’s control and crashed onto the fencing at Pano Dehrai Interchange in the wee hours of Sunday, injuring five people on board.

Rescue 1122 officials shifted the injured to the King Abdullah Hospital, where doctors pronounced Zakir Hussain and his wife, Ajaib Sultana dead, while three other injured were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital in Abbottabad in critical condition.

“The family was coming back from Peshawar after attending a wedding ceremony there,” Amir Khadam, a Rescue 1122 spokesman, said.

In another incident, a young girl drowned in Kunhar River while taking a selfie in Kaghan valley.

“The local divers rescued the girl from river and shifted her to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced her dead, SHO Kaghan police station Ghulam Mustafa told reporters. The victim, Rimsha, 16, was on a trip to Kaghan valley along with her family from Lahore.

Meanwhile, the body of Mohammad Hussain, who had drowned in the Indus River in Thakot area last week, has yet to be traced.

The victim hailing from Lohare Banda area of Mansehra and settled in Islamabad, along with his two children fell into the water while taking a selfie. His two children were rescued by the locals.
