THE Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) is one of the most important institutions of the Sindh government. Its responsibility includes recruitment of meritorious youth to keep the governmental machinery working properly.

For the same reason it conducts the annual Combined Competitive Examinations (CCE). However, let us note the corruption scandals, the annulment of the CCE 2013 result by the Supreme Court and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cases on members of the commission.

For these reasons, the SPSC has always been in the limelight for delaying the examinations and results without any plausible reason.

The SPSC conducted the CCE 2019 written examinations in April/May 2019. However, even after 15 months there is no sign of willingness on the part of SPSC authorities to announce the result of the written part of the examinations.

On the other hand, the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) announces the result of CSS within eight months in which roughly 15,000 candidates take part. In contrast, there were about 1,600 candidates in the CCE 2019 examinations in Sindh.

Such an indifferent attitude on the part of the SPSC has been causing distress among the youth of Sindh who spend years preparing for these examinations. With the CCE 2019 written result pending, the SPSC has already given the schedule for the written examinations of CCE 2020 and has also invited applications for CCE 2021, which seems logically absurd.

The SPSC authorities should follow a proper standard of procedure and devise a workable timeframe to conduct examinations and announce results within due time without resorting to delaying tactics. Such delays lead to suspicions and scandals as often seen in the past. The SPSC should announce the CCE 2019 written examinations results as soon as possible to end the candidates’ anxiety.
