ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz on Monday unveiled a commemorative postal stamp to honour the sacrifices rendered by the people of India-occupied Kashmir and to highlight one year of illegal annexation of Jammu and Kashmir by the fascist Modi government.

Addressing a press conference along with Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed, the information minister said that the commemorative stamp was aimed at sensitising the world about the atrocities being perpetrated by India in occupied Kashmir.

He said the issuance of the postage stamp was symbolic step that would send a strong message to the international community.

“This special postage stamp will highlight the wave of terror unleashed by the Modi government in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” he said. “All forums including diplomatic and political ones are being used to expose the evil face of India before the world.”

The minister said the nation will observe Yaum-i-Istehsal on Wednesday (Aug 5) to mark the first anniversary of India’s illegal action of scrapping the special constitutional status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr Faraz said the nation would observe Yaum-i-Istehsal on Aug 5 and the government would utilise all state resources on the occasion to expose the “evil face” of the fascist Modi regime.

Minister of Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed unveiled the stamp’s features that highlighted atrocities being perpetrated by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.

He recalled a statement of Prime Minister Imran Khan that he will fight the Kashmir case all over the world and said his efforts had now led to the highlighting the Kashmir cause at the international level.

“These are our successes at the diplomatic front as we have exposed the real fascist face of India,” he added.

The communication minister officially renamed the Kashmir Highway as “Srinagar Highway” to highlight the illegal action taken by the Indian government of scrapping the special constitutional status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 last year.

The “Srinagar Highway” starts from Islamabad chowk and it merges in Murree Road ahead of the Kashmir Chowk.
