LAHORE: Four local leaders of the banned Jamatud Dawa (JuD) and eight of Jaish-e-Muhammad have been convicted of terrorism financing in cases registered by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Punjab.

According to a CTD Punjab spokesman, those four local leaders of JuD convicted by anti-terrorism courts (ATCs) include Asghar Ali, Junaid Irshad and Ijaz Ahmad of Rawalpindi and Abdul Khaliq of Rahim Yar Khan. They have been awarded prison terms of two years each with fines, says a CTD press release.

Eight local leaders of JeM who have been convicted by ATCs include Iftikhar Ahmad, Muhammad Ajmal, Bilal Makki, Abrar Ahmad and Irfan Ahmad of Gujranwala; Hafeezullah, Mazhar Nawaz and Abdul Latif of Rawalpindi. They have been awarded prison terms of up to five years.
