ISLAMABAD: Two suspected drug peddlers attacked and injured a policeman after they were intercepted by a patrolling team, police said on Thursday.

A head constable and a constable were on a patrol at Jhangi Syedan when they stopped two persons coming from Mohammadi Town on a motorcycle.

When the constable tried to check a shopping bag on the bike, the suspects started arguing which led to a scuffle. During the scuffle, the police said, the motorcycle riders hit the constable with a brick in the head.

As a result, the constable lost consciousness and the suspects escaped leaving behind the motorcycle.

The constable, identified as Ahmadullah, was shifted to hospital. The police claimed that they later found charas in the shopping bag.

A case was registered against the suspects in the Sihala police station on different criminal charges.
