Two police officials were killed Saturday while trying to catch dacoits on the run in Faisalabad, DawnNews reported.

One of the slain officers, Madina Town Station House Officer (SHO) Nadeem Anjum, had received a tip-off about some wanted robbers fleeing the city via a bus station located at Sargodha Road.

He and his team raided the place to catch the proclaimed offenders. However, when confronted, the armed robbers opened fire, killing the SHO as well as Assistant Sub-Inspector Sajid.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Rana Masoom confirmed the incident, adding two civilians were also injured after getting caught in the shoot-out.

The dacoits fled the scene after committing the crime. Further investigation is underway.
