ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday stayed the appointment of Mohammad Yasir Pirzada, a BPS-19 officer of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), as director general Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE).

The petitioner Rehmat Ali Shah, a licence holder of Overseas Employment Promotion, named secretaries Cabinet Division, Establishment Division, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Chairman FBR as respondents.

Assailing the notification of October 5, 2016 about the appointment of Prizada as DG BEOE in BPS-21, the petitioner through his counsel Abdul Rehman Siddiqui pointed out that under the rules, notified in the Gazette of Pakistan dated March 15, 2012, a BPS-19 officer could not be given the charge of BPS-21.

He further said: “even otherwise, Pirzada does not hold the requisite experience as the job description of DG (BEOE) is entirely different from the job of an inland revenue officer who is from the cadre of Occupational Group meant for the recovery and management of income tax.

He requested the court to set aside the notification regarding appointment of Pirzada as DG BEOE.

IHC Justice Aamer Farooq after hearing the arguments issued a stay order in this matter and while seeking reply from the respondents adjourned the hearing till November 14.
