Israel has exported security equipment over the past five years to Pakistan and four Arab countries, Israeli newspaper Haaretz quoted a British government report as saying.

However, a spokesman of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) categorically denied the news report saying it was “misleading” and “not based on facts”.

The report says that in addition to Pakistan, Israel has exported arms and security equipment to Egypt, Algeria, the United Arab Emirates and Morocco.

The report deals with British government permits for arms and security equipment exports and was released by Britain’s Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

The department oversees security exports and publishes regular reports on permits granted or denied to purchase arms, military equipment or civilian items that are monitored.

Haaretz reported that from January 2008 to December 2012, British authorities processed hundreds of Israeli applications to purchase military items containing British components for use by the Israel Defence Forces, or to go into systems exported to third countries.

The UK government reports also list the countries to which Israel sought to export the items. Among Israel’s clients are countries with which it does not have diplomatic ties.

The report says that in 2011 Israel sought to purchase British components to export radar systems to Pakistan, as well as electronic warfare systems, Head-up Cockpit Displays ?(HUD?), parts for fighter jets and aircraft engines, optic target acquisition systems, components of training aircraft, and military electronic systems.

Prior to that, in 2010, Israel applied for permits to export electronic warfare systems and HUDs with components from Britain to Pakistan. Also in 2010, Israel sought permits to supply Egypt and Morocco with Israeli electronic warfare systems and HUD systems that use British parts, the Haaretz said in its report.

In 2009, Israel requested permits from British authorities to process security equipment exports to Algeria, Morocco and the UAE. The exports processing south for Algeria and the UAE also including permits to supply components for drones.

According to the British reports, Israel’s other clients for military exports over the past five years include India, Singapore, Turkey, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, Sweden, Portugal, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Colombia, Holland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Thailand, Macedonia, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Switzerland, Ecuador, Mexico, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Equatorial Guyana, Poland and Argentina.

Sir, It is irony of political compulsion that on one hand Islamic countries including Pakistan condemn Jews state on Palestine cause, on the other hand they import weapons from the same Jews state. Contradictions in the duplicity of behaviours make them a laughing stock in the eyes of the world. Yours faithfully BIMAL CHANDRA JHA Samanpura Road, Patna, India

The only question that remains unanswered is what concessions did the Pakistanis give the Israelis for the purchase of these items.

Reader Jun 11, 2013 12:37pm

People of Pakistan need an explantion from the pakistani govt. It's hypocitical to accept arms from a country with whom one doesn't have any diplomatic relations.

Shame on the ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN, and they claim that they are the friends of Palestine and member of the Islamic ummah. The citizen of Pakistan should take notice of this and take action against Pakistan army, and punish those responsible for the purchases.

A sincere Pakistani Jun 11, 2013 01:59pm

What a big deal!

Answer Jun 11, 2013 02:03pm

@Reader: They are not accepting it for free. They paid the full price for that equipment. What's wrong with that, it was a simple business transaction.

Husain Bulman Jun 11, 2013 02:35pm

Islamic Republic Of Pakistan!! What a shame you have been!! The Pakistani Army and Political establishment have sold their souls to the Zionist imperialists!! Pakistan trades with these imperialists at the expense of defenceless tribals who are murdered everyday by these imperialists. Corrupt Pakistani Army and the soul-less establishment are as much responsible for the murder of these tribals as the imperialist terrorists are!!

I hope the equipment suppiled by Israel hasn't got spying instruments which monitors Pakistani Nukes or sensitive sites in any way. Has the equipment been checked thoroughly? Israel is known for crafty tactics. Remember Syria spying hidden in rocks?

Imran Siddiqui Jun 11, 2013 08:04pm

Most of the people in South Asia are not aware of procurement and supply chain processes around the world. PAKISTAN HAS NOT IMPORTED DEFENSE EQUIP FROM ISRAEL. Pakistan's orders are with US or EU defense manufacturers who have outsourced work to Israel. Once Israel orders raw material to manufacture this equipment, they have to identify the end user of the finished goods. So Pakistans send a purchase order (PO) to a company in US, who sends a PO to Israel for some assemblies, Israel advises the British of the end user (required by law), Israel completes the assembly with raw material from Brits and then sends the assembly to the US defense vendor who finishes the product and sends it to Pakistan.

naghman qureshi Jun 11, 2013 09:37pm

pakistan should establish diplomatic relations with and do whatever is good for business.

ahmedj Jun 11, 2013 09:41pm

Pakistan once bought spares for their French origin Lama helicopters from their French suppliers. The delivered spares were manufactured by Indian aeronautical industry from their under licensed Lama's called Cheetak helicopters. Since the helicopters are for high altitude, same flying machines were face to face with their foes in the Siachin area.
Similarly in the past, Iran acquired Israeli weapons too. These are ordinary deals. Going further in the history, Jews sold war material to the kafirs of Mecca and at the same time to the Muslims of Madina. Business is their utmost priority.

@Answer: There are plenty of skeletons like this hidden in the Army's closet......the mother of all tragedies in this country. Don't be surprised if they put the blame on PPP govt.inspite of the fact that they are the beneficiary and end users!!

independentthinker Jun 11, 2013 11:11pm

in the end - it is all about "MONEY". Who really cares about anything else? We get supplies from Israel - we build ammunition, we secretly export it to Israel's enemies, they use it against Israel, who in turn retaliates and uses their own arsenal to kill its enemies and the cycle goes on. Several thousands innocent men/women get killed in the process. The leaders, in the meantime, survive - make emotional speeches about the dead and promise retaliation, the big corporations thrive, making millions - if not billions, from these transactions and with all those profits, keep the leaders well protected and financially secured and unfortunately, this is how life goes on. As i said earlier, it is all about MONEY.

rahim Jun 11, 2013 11:10pm

Selling the equipment makes it easy to track the Pakistan ammo location, and other sensitive data since the equipment moves and stored along with their existing ammo, so its in Israels interest to sell some devices, it will be be very useful. Stop crying wolf....

Juned Jun 12, 2013 02:39am

@taffazull: That is correct, it was during the era of congressman Charlie Wilson who developed strategy for Afghan war and arms were imported via U.S from Israel and Egypt. Nothing wrong with this however we are hypocrites..

Ozz777 Jun 12, 2013 02:43am

If you think the Palestinians, or any other Arab nation, are our friends, you are mistaken...... Pakistan should look after its own interests and stop trying to be the 'thekadar' of the Ummat.

It may be true because the terrorism activities started during this period in Pakistan and all people of Pakistan are just confused that where these terrorists get their arms and money from ? The terrorist master minds also don't belong to Pakistan. Israel must stop all these ugly activities to put an end to the troubles in the world. The world peace has been always disturbed by Israel.
