ISLAMABAD: A petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Monday requesting it to order the adding of former president Pervez Musharaf's name to the Exit Control List (ECL), DawnNews reported.

The petition was filed by Maulana Abdul Aziz, the chief cleric of Lal Masjid. The petitioner in his application stated that the Lal Masjid operation was conducted on the orders of the former president, adding that the court should order the inclusion of his name to the ECL.

The petition includes Musharraf as a party.

A government crackdown on the mosque in Islamabad was launched in July 2007. It ended in a bloody eight-day siege killing at least 58 Pakistani troops and seminary students.

The mosque, with the radical Maulana Abdul Aziz leading several armed seminary students, had announced the establishment of a parallel judicial system, vowing to enforce Islamic Shariah laws in the federal capital and threatening to unleash a wave of suicide bombers if the government took any action to counter it.

The 2007 military raid ordered by Musharraf eventually overcame the armed militants. However, several questions regarding the operation were left unanswered.

4th para itself describes the logic for operation. I don't think any country will accept these type of acts from radical groups which challenge Sovereignty of the country. SC should simply reject this petition but anything is possible in our country because there are always hidden agendas behind these moves

Maulana Abdul aziz should be arrested immediately for violating the law of the land ..But Alas our supreme court !! They will not do that and that is why there is so much anarchy in Pakistan Musharraf did the right thing at right time otherwise there could have been 100 lal mosques in Pakistan today New Musharraf is back and we all pray for him to succeed IA Sub se pahle Pakisatn

Is this the sama maulana who wore a burqa to leave the lal masjid like a coward?. If that is him, he should be tried for a turning a mosque into an ammunition dump. How dare he is still trying to fool the nation. No wonder the PMLN will be behind this man as they have score to settle with Musharraf.

A lot of lies and distorted information has been spread by Lal masjid clerics and power hungry politicians about Lal masjid operation. Just see the news papers and TV channels clips of Lal masjid operation time, it will give a real insight of the incident. Lal masjid mullahs established a parallel government and openly showing/using arms to enforce their brand of sharia. What option, the government of that time has to control the situation beside the army operation? One has to decide on his own.

Your statement shows extreme but genuine frustration with the problems. I do not agree with you inclusion of Musharraf and calling him dictator general. He took the right action to control the militancy. I hope he succeed in the elections

SC should allow Maulana Abdul Aziz to show up in the court to present his case. As soon as he shows up, SC should order all enforcement officers to open fire on the Mullah! That will teach all the radicals a great deal of a lesson! This is the same Mullah who was allowed to go home after the Lal Masjid operation as the government had nothing against him, but his practices of letting Militants in the Masjid. Masjid is a place of worship not to establish a War Ship! These Mullahs are disgrace to Islam and whole nation. It is because of these radicals that people of Pakistan and other Muslim brethren are facing hardship within the nation and abroad. May General Saheb live long life! Pakistan First!

All the ministers and advisers holding office during Musharraf regime should be called to give evidence in this case the vedio recording should also shown to the judges. I think Musharraf showed maximum patience to order operation.

Musharraf took the right decision to use military force to get rid of terrorists hiding and using LAL masjid not as a place of worship but as ammunition dump for terrorist activities.One must remember there is no compulsion in Islam, the very democratic nature of this peace loving religion.

Think of the country only, i.e., Pakistan. Comments must not be motivated by biases and vengeance. all must see the capabilities of those who have served time and again and given nothing to the country except corruption. Those who failed so many times must not be given any chance again or else democracy will fail further and people will loose faith in democracy. It is ironic that Field Marshal Ayub Khan and General Musharraf gave power to the grass root people... and democratically elected PPP and PML(N) took power away from people. PPP and PML(N) are now projecting their children, the "rulers of future". Keep yourself and Pakistan safe from these people.
