ISLAMABAD, Nov 2: The eighth Subh-e-Nau National Hard Court tennis championship started at the Pakistan Sports Complex here on Tuesday.

On the opening day, Usman Rafique, Shahid Afridi, Ayaz Khan, Saeed-ul-Haq, Farhad Ali Raja, Sajid Ali, Mubarik Shah and Yaseen Abbasi reached the main round, beating their respective opponents in men’s singles event.

In the U-18 category, Ayaz Khan, Sangeen Khan, Irtaza Sohail, Saad Mohammad Hassan, Mohammad Muzammil, Umer Sheikh and Shahzeb Ali qualified for the main round.

Boys’ U-18 (qualifying round): Ayaz Khan bt Ahsan Ali Khan 6-0; Sangeen Khan bt M. Salman 6-2; Irtaza Sohail bt Nofel Kaleem 6-2; Saad M. Hassan bt Rafaqat Ali 7-5; M. Muzammil bt Saeed Khan 6-2; Umer Sheikh bt Farhan Ali 6-3; Shahzeb Ali bt Zaeem Barlas 6-0.
