LAHORE Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Navy, Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) and Pak Elektron Limited (PEL) celebrated the 62nd Independence Day of Pakistan with victories in the Pakistan Premier Football League on Friday.
Meanwhile, Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Baloch FC and Afghan FC suffered further defeats and are still without a win while Habib Bank Limited (HBL) went down fighting against KRL.
PAF found Nushki's Baloch FC a hard nut to crack at the PAF Complex, Islamabad, and they were lucky to carry the 24th minute lead till the end to win by 1-0.
The goal was scored on the second attempt by winger Irfan Ali after fine work by Saleh Khan and Amir Khan on the left flank. Navy were the favourites to gain three more points when they took on a weak Afghan FC at the Naval Complex, Islamabad.
The seamen, under Nomi Martin Gill, did the job in style by striking once in each session to beat Afghans by 2-0.
Midfielder Asif Bakhsh opened scoring in the 35th minute off Sajjad Ahmed's pass and it was left to skipper Nomi himself to put the issue beyond the opponents with an 80th minute goal.
KRL marched on to record another win when they edged out the well-managed HBL 1-0 at the KRL Stadia in Rawalpindi.
The all-important goal was scored by striker Mahmood Khan in the 30th minute after fine work on the left gallery by Mohammad Qasim and Kalimullah.
PEL continued with their astonishing work of brushing aside opponents when they outclassed KPT 3-0 at MTFA Ground, Lahore.
Abid Ghafoor once again showed his striking ability to score early by finding the net in the third minute while winger Asmatullah showed how dangerous he is around the penalty box by making it 2-0 in the 38th minute.
KPT completed the rout through Mohammad Adil in the 83rd minute.
