ISLAMABAD: A procession marking the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) was held in Islamabad amid tight security, passing through its designated route.
Although Chehlum is observed on 20th Safar, the procession was held a day earlier in Islamabad. The main procession will be held in Rawalpindi on Thursday December 3. The management of the G-6 Markazi Imambargah and ICT administration held several meetings prior to the procession.
The procession began in the afternoon from the G-6 Imambargah and was attended by a large number of people.
Participants recited nohay and beat their chests in remembrance of the sacrifices made by Imam Hussain and his family.
Despite the sharp fall in temperatures after sunset, a number of faithful also remained barefoot.
People, including residents from G-6/1 to G-6/3, also distributed niaz and set up sabeel offering water, tea and soup to participants of the procession.
The procession terminated at the same Imambargah, and was carried out under tight security by police and Rangers.
